When I used to think of happiness, I thought of it as the ultimate state of being. It is something that we all desire, right? I had this idea that if I am successful, I will be happy. Well that may or may not be the case.
What I know is that our state of mind changes daily. Sometimes there is a reason and other times, we just can’t put our finger on it. If we gauge success by how “happy” we are, we may be missing some valuable insight. Let’s face it…every day isn’t always ideal.
Peace and true inner joy come to mind as better measures of contentment in our lives. We have lots more control over our attitude and our response to situations that arise. Our state of mind is simply a result of our perspective. If we allow it, circumstances can dictate our demeanor.
Here are a few things to think about:
- No matter what takes place in life, we have a choice to dwell on what went wrong or what is positive. What path will you choose?
- Adversity will happen. Are you preparing by keeping yourself healthy, whole and focused on solutions?
- What can you do to bring joy to another? Intentionally plan this each day.
